Johnavan Vistante Stops Fleeing Robber In Waipahu - @warriorzkingdom

"The Immortal Warrior" may become the new superhero moniker of the locally known MMA fighter, Johnavan Vistante. Not only does Vistante take out his opponents in the cage, but apparently he takes out criminals in the streets. The multiple title holding MMA Champ, and possible UFC prospect, used some of his Martial Arts knowledge and instinct to take down a would be robber this afternoon.

At around 2:30pm today, while working in Waipahu, Vistante heard the cries and pleas for help. When he realized that the screams were that of somebody who had just been robbed and that the criminal was heading his way, he took notice of the situation and then sprang into action.

"I heard them screaming that he just robbed a lady and there were people already chasing a group of guys. I asked which one and they said 'the dude in the white shirt', so I chased him and wrestled him down. I held him until the cops got there."

Johnavan was not particularly looking to be a hero, but he says that it was instinct that just kicked in. He ran to the man and fought him to the ground. Once in control of the situation, Vistante was able to continue to hold the man for roughly 10 to 15 minutes until the police arrived.

"He kept asking me to let him go."

Johnavan knew that the man was merely trying anything he could to elude be caught by the police and continued to restrain him. Upon their arrival, the police allegedly found drugs/paraphernalia on the criminal. The police, along with the victim, thanked Vistante for his service and he returned to his job and finished out his day with a smile and a feeling of accomplishment.

"It was just instinct."

Add this story now to the growing list of those involving MMA fans and fighters who use their skills and knowledge to help those in need.People such as UFC Light Heavyweight Champ, Jon Jones, who held down a thief much in a similar fashion, hours before his fight against Shogun Rua for the UFC title. Crime in this country is quickly learning the bitter taste of defeat at the hands of the MMA community, and crime in Waipahu definitely took notice today as Johnavan Vistante showed a would be criminal why they call him "The Immortal Warrior".
Thank you to Johnavan Vistante from MMA Hawaii, and the entire community, for being an example of the good that can come from our MMA family.
